Five Elektrik Gems

Every week I post the five tracks I’ve had on repeat. Often it’ll be a collection of music from YouTube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp (and others), this weeks tracklist is from Soundcloud.

1. Murph Dirt, Polk, Fitz and Morisha Danee’ – Hello

2. OSHUN – Fall Back

Using J Dilla beats these girls have done it. It sounds brilliant. Looking forward to what this duo has in store for 2015.

3. Eric Lau – Where To Go Now (feat. Tawiah)

This has been on repeat since December. It’s a great album.

4. Jack Garratt – The Love You’re Given

First heard on Lefto’s show on Mixcloud.

5. Ojan – Tissues

Released on Chris Coco’s label Melodica. From the EP Nightbus.

Elektrik Gems put together by Erica McKoy.

Five Elektrik Gems

The top five trakks I’ve had on repeat this week.

1. OthaSoul – Crip Walkin on the Nightingale Floor

Last week I spoke to, and saw these guys live after spending months talking to them online about doing an interview and session for The Elektrik Cave. They’re a lovely group of producers, so keep you’re eyes peeled for more.

2. Dionne Warwick – Anyone Who Had A Heart

I’ve got a Sound Ekho track, thats been a favourite of mine over the last week.

Dionne Warwick’s “Anyone Who Had A Heart” hit the Billboard Top Ten in January 1964 and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Cilla Black’s version got to number 1 on the charts.

3. Bugz in the Attic – Worla Hurt

From the album, Back in the Dog House, released on V2 Music in 2006

Indeed it does feel like “theres a lot of love missing”, and “we should be united”. So, if you want a track to put you in a better mood for sharing the love then this is the one.

4. Wodoo Wolcan – I Live For The Funk, I’ll Die For The Funk

Has been on repeat for the last week. Once you hear it, you’ll understand why I have no more to say.

5. abhi//dijon – Honest

Very soulful vibe. These two are from the States. Check out more of their stuff on SoundCloud.

Five Elektrik Gems

The top five trakks I’ve had on repeat this week.

1. Portico – Living Fields ft Jono McCleery

Portico announced last week that they were signed to Ninja Tune, which came as no surprise to The Elektrik Cave, it’s obvious that they would fit right in to the Ninja Tune family. This is a new track they have released with Jono McCleery on Ninja Tune.

2. DubRocca – Making Me Feel

Well this made me think of The Elektrik Caves early days, and I’ve been dancing around to this track all week. DJ Cameo, played it on 1Xtra about 10 days ago. So, it’s brand spanking new!

3. Tom Misch – In the Middle of The Night

A slightly darker track than usual for Mr Misch, but it still sounds effortless and beautiful.

Also, Tom has just posted a free download.

4. Flying Lotus – Never Catch Me ft Kendrick Lamar

I’ve said it already this week, but I’ll say it again. Thank you Flying Lotus!

5. SumoChief – 1of1 (Handbook Remix)

To celebrate their remix EP, they’ve posted the first track off the EP. Released on Lunatick Records.

Tune in to The Elektrik Cave tomorrow on Roundhouse Radio, from 6-7pm, I’ll be playing the remix.
