Five Elektrik Gems

This week the five trakks I’ve had on repeat include:

1. Hiatus Kaiyote – Laputa

The EP comes out on the 2nd December, but you can stream the full EP from the Red Bull Music website.

I’ve had the EP on repeat, and I’ll be playing it as soon as its released to the public, for download.

2. Abigail Glasser – You Already Know (Esperanza Spalding Cover)

Brilliant cover of Esperanza Spalding, Abigail’s voice is smooth and soothing.

3. Alex Burey – Inside World

For some reason it reminded me of the earlier works of Archie Marshall. Very reflective, slightly dark – but very romantic. Love it.

4. The Acid – Animal

The track Animal from the EP Luminal

5. Mayfair Kytes – Seasonal Thaw

Lastly from Australia.

And just for good measure some BAD BAD NOT GOOD, this track has been a favourite of mine this week, also.

First All Girl Band of Indian Classical Music

The first ever all girl band of Indian classical music, featuring Kaushiki Chakraborty (vocal), Sawani Talwalkar (tabla), Mahima Upadhyay (pakhawaj), Nandidni Shankar (violin) and Debopriya Chattetjee (flute).

These great women embrace the male dominated history of Indian Classical, whilst also showing the world their talent as women. It’s powerful.

If you liked that, you may like the Elektrik Spekial with Tanya Wells on Roundhouse Radio.
