Five Elektrik Gems

The top five trakks I’ve had on repeat this week. Most of these are by new-ish artists (some of them are still a little underground), but all of them are Elektrik Gems. 

1. Daedelus – Onward

Produced by A. Darlington and Young Dad. Vocals by Young Dad. From the forthcoming album “The Light Brigade”, which is out on the 30th September. 

2. Nick Hakim – I Don’t Know

Beautiful soulful vocals. 

 

3. Pablo Ygál – Heart Cave

Really relaxing music. Perfect for a relaxed weekend. 

4. Austin Peralta – Epilogue: Renaissance Bubbles

A very talented and young Jazz musician that fortunately left us with something beautiful to remember him by. Austin Peralta, was extremely talented and I have no doubt that his work will remain to inspire. 

5. iLLer theAbstract Giraffe – Ritual Blessing

I found out about this guy on a mixtape. From Falmouth, this guy is making mad electronic sounds. I’m very excited about what else he has.

Elektrik Gem: Pablo Ygál

Rarely do I write a long blog post for an Elektrik Gem, but this artist has really been a gem of August. 

Elektrik Gem explainer: So quickly for those of you who don’t know what an Elektrik Gem is, its an absolute beaut of a track/artist. If you ever find yourself in The Elektrik Cave, right at the back you’ll find a bunch of Gem’s that I’ve been keeping aside for good times. 

Anyway, this month I’ve been really in to softer sounding music. More use of vocals, less use of drums and heavy beats, more bells, flutes and strings. 

Let me introduce you to Pablo Ygál…

Pablo Ygál

Based in Los Angles, he makes very spiritual and deep music, I imagine he pulls influences from some of the basic things he sees in life, like love, beauty and nature. This sounds silly, but if you enjoy relaxing (which of course you do), but need something to get you to that place, go to his soundcloud and just play his tracks and have them on in the background, they’ll calm you right down.
